DCIL is committed to providing quality information. In 2005 a number of projects were undertaken to realise the commitment and as a result we now have a variety of information leaflets, we also launched our Independent Living Magazine, Leaders Manual, and PA Manual. Further such material is ongoing.
The Donegal Centre for Independent Living publish the Independent Living Magazine quarterly, and is available, free of charge, to leaders and PAS.
Topics include housing, health, employment, education, entitlements, etc., and various articles by national and international writers. The project at present is supported by FAS, and also sponsorship from local business people.
Leaders and PAS are urged to be active in the production of the magazine by sending in their articles; news, views, photographs etc.
Leader & Personal Assistant Manuals
This Leader Manual is aimed at empowering our leaders with practical knowledge and know-how on managing PAS. Very comprehensive in all topics from hiring and firing PAS, legal requirements, interviewing candidates,, to mention a few. The PA Manual is developed along the same lines as the Leader Manual. Very comprehensive, aimed at providing PAS with advice and the requirements necessary in assisting Leaders to live independently.
