Posh Dolly's
Posh Dolly’s is a project designed to help DCIL in two vital area: Raising our profile within Donegal and hopefully raise some funds along the way.
In our thinking as to how to achieve this we came up with the idea of Posh Dolly’s where we planned to open a shop/boutique in which dresses / outfits can be donated and sold at a reasonable price to help raise funds.
The clothes do not have to be new but certainly in very good condition. I think we all have outfits in the wardrobe that we feel is too good to give into a charity shop to be sold for a few euros; however we may feel better about donating them to a charity which will receive a reasonable and decent price for them.
We also believe that as we all have been affected in one way or another by this recession and the paying of crazy amounts for that dress or outfit is a thing of the past and we are all open to the notion of paying less to look good.
Over the past eight weeks of having opened the shop, we have seen many happy faces leaving the shop swinging theirs bags, delighted in what they have bought for a fraction of the price it could have. We have dressed mothers of the brides/grooms, wedding guest’s as well as our younger teenage customers.

DCIL Information Area
The shop also has an information area in which customers can see various images of DCIL and their work and learn through the information leaflets available the type of work that the buying and donating of clothes is doing for people with disabilities in Donegal. The shop in itself is one in which is extremely well decorated and finished and people could be forgiven for mistaking it for an exclusive boutique as opposed to a second hand shop.
We need your help in promoting the shop in order to ensue continued success and encourage people to both visit the shop and have that clear out and donate those items that they know will make someone else’s day and support DCIL in it’s work.
The Shop was officially opened on Saturday the 23rd October 2010, by both our Tánaiste Mary Coughlan and Miss Donegal Pamela O’Hagan (who works for us in DCIL as a Personal Assistant to people with disabilities), both where extremely impressed with the quality of clothes Posh Dolly’s had to offer. Guests enjoyed a buck’s fizz breakfast whilst also getting a bird’s eye view of what Posh Dolly’s has to offer.
